To help make your concrete coatings look wonderful, there are some very specific steps you can take to care for your flooring. Epoxy coatings and stamped concrete overlays are very easy to clean and require little maintenance.
To clean epoxy garage floors, you can use a leaf blower or broom to get debris and dirt out of your garage. If you want to go a step further, you can use an industrial string mop with a solution of half vinegar and half water. You do not need to rinse the surface after you mop. Any tire tracks or road grime can be removed from our sealers with any non-abrasive citrus cleaner or degreaser. Avoid using any product that is abrasive that can damage the sealer. Oil can easily be wiped off. Acid can damage the sealer if not removed immediately. We frequently see this occur with golf cart batteries that are left in garages over the summer. If you park your golf cart in the garage for long periods of time, please put a rubber tray under the battery compartment to prevent damage to the sealer.
For stamped concrete overlays, you can simply hose it off with a garden hose. Pressure washing should be avoided. The pressure from the sprayer can cause abrasive wear on the sealer. You can let it air dry or you can dry it with a leaf blower by blowing the water off the surface. The majority of the time this is all that is needed. Once in a while you may need to remove a rust stain from furniture or calcium deposits from sprinklers. You can do this with CLR (Calcium, Lime & Rust Remover). Apply only a small amount to a washcloth and rub area lightly.
